50. Nike Dunk High Premium Notebook aka "Nikebooks"***

I seriously hunted these down! I had every store in DC on speed dial the day they dropped - unfortunately, they dropped a few days early and I was in VA (Yorktown) to see John Mayer and Beck with my homie and TEAM PAC Champion Alexandra - BUT ANYWAYS a few days later the late shipment showed up at Sports Zone in Gtown and thats the same day I bought three pair of shoes in one day and still spent only about 350.00 :)

49.Nike Dunk Low CL Jordan 3s***

2nd pair to come out of the Jordan inspired Dunk Lows. The Nike Air Jordan IIIs are one of my favs so naturally the combination is great for me. Also Notables were the Dunk Low Jordan IIs and True Blue III's. I also own both of them too. I bougt them from City Sports in Chinatown and a Journeys out in Rockville somewhere

48. Nike SB Dunk High Supremes

Supreme NYC is craaazy for this one. The other two colorways are dope too, but you can't say too much about a Orange and white sneaker. Well atleast not since the Syracuse Dunk High OGs. Not quite on my Holy Grail list but close enough.

Another Jordan III inspired design this time by Supreme Tokyo, Japan. Another thing you'll notice throughout is the Elephant print is my all time favorite Nike design element. Alson came in a blk/red colorway.

46. Nike SB Dunk High De La Soul aka "Da La's"

Nike Dunks and Hip-Hop music is always a great combination! This just so happens to mix the Classic Dunk High with a Classic album "3 Feet High and Rising" cover art. Not to mention, but I'm going to anyway, the green elephant print is sooo neccessary. That year a few other De La inspired nike sneakers also released.

45. Nike SB Dunk High UNKLE editions aka "D.U.N.K.L.E.S." ***

My 1st pair of SB Dunk Highs that were stolen! I bought them from Elite Boardshop in Fair Oaks Mall while attending George Mason University. They were stolen from my locker in the Gym the same day I bought them.
Shy pink and Black still remains as one of my favorite colorways. This shoes was design by Futura 2000 (notice the signature aliens and atoms throughout). Same guy in the John Mayer video for the people who don't know.

44. Nike SB Dunk High Stones Throw Records aka "Quasimotos"

The verdict is still out on exactly who got the shoes and how many pairs exist but they are still dope. Stone throw Records is one of my fav labels and is also home to MADLIB, Peanut Butterwolf, AloeBlacc, Breakestra, Dudley Perkins, Guilty Simpson, Georgia Ann Muldrow, J Rocc, Jaylib (MADLIB & J Dilla), MADVillian (MF Doom & MADLIB), Oh No, Chrome Children, Yesterday's New Qunitet (MADLIB once again) and the infamous QUASIMOTO (MADLIB's alter ego). Look out real soon because I'm bringing some heat from this label in the next post!

#43. Nike Dunk High "All Star New Orleans"

Released exclusively during the ASG 2008 in New Orleans to a very select few peoples. Colorway via New Orleans Saints. Can you say stingray? Because thats what the black material is - so sick. The AF1 sister shoe pictured below. Although its a Dunk list, you gotta admit how sick they are.

42. Nike SB Mid Guns N Roses aka "November Rains"

Now as much as I wanted these, I slept on them when they came out and by the time I had the money -- no size 13s! Although a good friend of mine bought them and they looked hot on her.

40. Dunk High Premium Santana ***

One of the few times I bought a pair of shoes without knowing anything about them. I walked into Sports Zone in Gtown once again to just see what they had and my mouth dropped. The materials are sooooooo sick its amazing they were only $89. The icy glacier color soles also has the same image that appears on the sides. Metallic patent paint job on the heels where if the light catches it right you can see the fuchsia and glacier colors sparkle. The inside in lined with a super soft velvet and notice the alternating colors on teh stitching. Said to have been model after the Cali Low Rider scene, two other Vandal Lows were also released in a similar colorway with pinstriping.

39. Nike Dunk High Goldenrods

Not to be confused by the Wu's or the UN Goldenrods (respectively pictured below) These OGs where my favorite because at the time of there release DC was in a monotone nightmare. Everything was Navy Blue or Black and sometimes a little heather gray or white thrown in. But right about the same time Nautica and Polo started to catch fire in DC, I saw a guy in Eastern Market with these and fell in love! The OGs are hard to find now but the UNs shouldn't be that hard to cop. The Wu Tangs are impossible to get unless you already own them and the Michigans are kinda rare too.

The Wu's have the classic Wu-Tang logo on the tongue and rear heel - RARE!

The Un Goldenrods have wool side panels and a whits swoosh opposite the OG yellow ones.***

38. LIVESTRONG x Nike Dunk High F.L.O.M. Greatist Hits Pack

Nike has a knack for doing colaborations and this time is no different. The LIVESTRONG campaign had us all wearing that silly yellow band for years and just when you thou the team behind the YELOOW nonsense was done, they went ahead and gathered the most sought after nike collaborations in the past few years and gave then the Lance paint job. I must say Kudos on the idea, but I've trid to find out legit release info and it exist online but store level is another thing. I know I can't afford any of them if I wanted to but just for the intel i guess. Pictured below is the set of the Greatest Hits Pack and the original colorways.

The colors are sick and the concept is a WIN! In the past nike did a Ms Pacman Dunk High that didnt fail, it was just realse in GS version only. Then the word got around that after the Rock Pack was done then SB would do shoes inspired by 80s video games. Such is history because dome of the dopest shoes cam outta that pack and this was no exception. In my opinion it was the best and again - everyone was sold outta 13s!!!!

Okay I'm not only saying this because she's a DESA Alum or because she's from DC or even because I personally asked her permission to post this album BUT I'm telling you, if you don't download any other CD on my blog ever, GET THIS ONE NOW! Seriously Niya hit the nail of the head with this album. It reminds of alot of Yolanda Adams first two CDs in the way the music wraps its arms around you and gives you the warmest feelings. Its the perfect album to just put on and let it play all teh way through. Guaranteed if you are a gospel, ccm, contemporary fan - then this is for you! DO NOT SLEEP because I'm offering the download for one week free and after that you'kll have to send me a request and or buy it from iTunes or CDBaby.com My current favorites are marked with a star. My top and most rotated one is 'No Words'. The song is so simple and the medley begs to sang along with. So ofcourse I do all the time. I've added my own harmonies and everything! from the horns to percussion that ends the song. It has replaced 'I Recieve' by Hillsongs as my morning song.
Lastly I have to say this album is very satisfying because I complain soo much the Christian music in my opinion brings nothing to teh table as far as creative producing and even professional appeal. Well Just liek I gave Da T.R.U.T.H. and MaryMary nods for there production appeal, I so add a third album to the mix. Sometimes less is more if its done right - like Jay-Z said "Sometime you just have to leave a crack in teh door and let God in" - I think it's safe to say Niya did just that - Thank You!

Michael Olatuja - Speak

Today is the day Nigerian-British bass player Michael Olatuja unfurls his very first album Speak onto the world, but this isn't the kind of record you'd might expect from a master bassist his first time out. But Olatuja is not an orthodox musician. If he was, I'd most likely would be writing the post about someone else. But this cat, who's come seemingly out of nowhere made a record that reveals a talent far beyond merely being able to pluck a four-stringed instrument.

Olajuta didn't actually come "from nowhere," of course. Growing up in both London and Lagos (Nigeria), Olajuta cut his teeth recording and touring with a slew of soul and jazz superstars: Lisa Stansfield, Terence Blanchard, Chaka Khan, Patti Austin and The Great Stevie Wonder, to count a few. When Olatuja was ready to make his first record about five and a half years ago, he soaked up all of these influences, and made a disc that put his bass in a sideman role, but he produced and arranged the record, and wrote or co-wrote every song except for one. The style of music is a spicy soup of neo-soul, gospel, jazz and African music.

Speak, the title of bassist Michael Olatuja’s debut album, holds deep personal meaning for its creator, exemplifying in a single word the album’s underlying themes of hope, encouragement, inspiration and positivity. The album, which will be released on July 28 on Backdrop, ObliqSound’s sub-label focusing on modern electronic and groove-based music, tells the story of the British/Nigerian artist’s musical and personal journey.

“The language of music is one that we all speak,” Olatuja explains. “It unites diverse cultures.” The ten songs on Speak find Olatuja stepping out of his role as sideman and finally presenting his personal vision as producer and composer. With musical influences and guests from around the world, the album touches on each spot Olatuja has hit around the globe, including his childhood in London and Lagos, Nigeria, and his professional years in London and New York.

No one REALLY knows if the rumors are indeed rumors or a REAL studio album is in the works but MY sources say there is an expected tour in the near furure sponsored by a new label yet to be realized. I hope this doesnt turn out to be ANOTHER 'Soulquarians' Supergroup HYPE! 20. Moonstones

Ralston marketed this cereal with the story that it was mined from the lunar surface by a regiment of magical beings called Moonbeams. Their commandant, Major Moon, led the work camp while obsessing over the moral decay their shiftless neighbors, the Moonbums, were attempting to introduce. Despite being a tasty, Cold War mix of fruit and fascism, Moonstones were discontinued after only a year in 1977.

19. King Vitaman

Nothing screams health like misspelling the word "vitamin" in your name. With a spoon-crown and a demonic expression, this potentate's maniacal desire to administer breakfast reeked of a disturbing power-lust.

18. Kaboom

A day-glo clown, creepy smiley-faced shapes, and an ability to turn milk a murky grayish-blue color: What's not to love about Kaboom? Note that the clown on this box front, who appears to have been dosed with LSD, refuses to actually handle the bowl with anything other than his foot.

17. Punch Crunch

Cap'n Horatio Crunch has shared the S.S. Guppy with numerous first mates over the years, but few were quite as foppish as Harry S. Hippo. The spokes-character for the "little pink rings with big pink flavor," Harry tempted the lonely sea cap'n with his teased eye lashes and curvaceous figure. If the idea of fruit-punch-flavored cereal wasn't so disgusting, who knows what could've been. Maybe in a more accepting time...

16. Sugar Corn-fetti

Though the connection between mariners and processed corn is spurious at best, Post used the seafaring Captain Jolly to pitch Sugar Corn-fetti in the 1960s. As illogical as that sounds, using a single-toothed smile to sell a sugary breakfast may be an even worse idea.

15. Wackies

In the good ol' days, an uncontrollable little boy getting hopped up on a cereal full of "banana bingles," "banana jangles," and "oat gloops" was endearing. Now it just makes him a candidate for Ritalin.

14. Rice Honeys

Given that children are taught to steer clear of bees, you'd think arming insects with pistols would make them more off-putting. Obviously, this didn't cross the minds of the execs in charge of Rice Honeys, who also led a movement to unseat Mr. Potato Head as the piece of produce most likely to be anthropomorphized.

13. Sir Grapefellow

Imagine being in General Mills' boardroom when an advertising exec proposed that a knighted, phallic-nosed British aviator with the tag-line "Tally-ho" would be the best option to market their new grape-flavored cereal. You can almost envision the staff looking on quizzically before the boss stands up and begins clapping. The yes-men follow along on cue, unaware that the boss had a four-martini lunch.

12. OKs

Long before there were Brawny paper towels there was a "Br-r-awny," cereal. It appears Kellogg's wanted kids to think eating OKs would make them grow big and strong. However, it's not entirely clear why they thought kids aspired to be stereotypically Scottish.

11. KOMBOs

After finding success using a tiger to market Corn Flakes, Kellogg's decided to use another exotic beast, the Blue Gnu, to represent the cereal's orange-flavored incarnation. While using one of the African savanna's most obscure animals seems like an odd choice, it's even stranger that they cloaked the character in a trench coat, like some kind of citrus-wielding flasher.

10. Magic Puffs

If your hat comes alive and tells you to eat cereal, you've probably already had some magic puffs. When this was on tables from 1974 to 1977, we're pretty sure it was more post-bong "munchie meal" than part of a nutritious breakfast.

9. Quisp

Once again, the children of America were forced to face an armed spokes-thing while eating cereal. Quisp cereal was introduced in 1966 and has since disappeared from most store shelves, but Quaker continues to make small batches of it every year. We think cereal lovers across America fear retaliation from "Quisp" -- a propeller-headed alien with permanently crossed eyes -- if they don't buy a box every year.

8. Mr. Wonderfull's Surprize

Regardless of whether this guy is "wonderfull" or not, any parent who would let their kid eat the creamy-filling "Surprize" found inside the balls of a man with a periscope head should be charged with child abuse.

7. Fruit Brute

Of General Mills' monster-themed cereals, only Count Chocula, Boo Berry and Franken Berry scared up any business. Fruit Brute, the runt of the series, was shot by a silver bullet in 1983 after an eight-year run, leaving grocery stores devoid of cereals containing fluorescent orange puffs and nasty lime marshmallows.

6. Corn Flakes with Instant Bananas

First of all, Mr. Kellogg, bananas can't instantly appear. Their freeze-dried meat needs to be reconstituted, which is not really a "Presto!" sort of moment. Secondly, we're pretty sure the top of that banana's head was cut off to give him a nose. Needless to say, a child's fragile mind shouldn't be expected to wrap itself around this kind of macabre fruit phantasmagoria.

5. Vanilly Crunch

Once again, the good Cap'n is being tempted by a sexually aggressive animal. Wilma the White Whale is a nice literary tip of the cap to Moby Dick, but giving her long lashes and "Hello, sailor" lipstick creates the type of promiscuous sea life Melville never imagined and probably never wanted to. (You might want to re-read some of the more symbolic passages of "Billy Budd" if you don't know what we're talking about.)

4. Freakies

Born in 1973, the Freakies were Snorkeldorf, Cowmumble, Hamhose, BossMoss, Goody-Goody, Gargle and Grumble. Besides inspiring fan clubs nationwide, the original Freakies commercial became an installation at New York City's Museum of Modern Art. But if you put them in front of a kid now, they'd want to know why boogers were floating in their cereal.

3. Tutti Fruiti Twinkles

Known as the Tutti-Fruiti Sprinkler, this cartoon fire fighter appeared on the scene in the mid-'60s to tinkle sprinkles all over your cereal. It's unclear why anyone would want this, but at least there are other designs on the box to distract you from over-analyzing why Sprinkler seems so excited about using his hose.

2. Crunchy Loggs

Honestly, what's more appetizing than chowing down on some crunchy loggs? Wouldn't you just love to pop a logg in your mouth and experience its rich nutty flavor? It tastes just like what you'd get if a cartoon beaver took a dump in your bowl. Mmmm...delish.

1. Grins & Smiles & Giggles & Laughs

Created in 1975, GSGL's "story" was of four characters named Grins, Smiles, Giggles and Laughs who had to make the robot laugh to get it to vomit up boxes of cereal. While its concept is exceptionally weird, we actually ranked it number one for its profound tagline: "It takes funny people to make funny cereal." Of course, we interpreted that as "funny-weird," not "funny ha-ha."
